Newmarket Tips: Soap Wars
Has won three times on his seasonal reappearance.
There is only one opportunity per season to back Soap Wars and I’m hoping he can handle the ground to win the 2.40 Newmarket. His best form is on good ground (currently good to soft) but I’m hoping the strong winds can dry out the course before racing.
He makes his first start of the season today and that is always the best time to back him. Over the last four years, his record on his seasonal reappearance is 1161.
Although racing off a higher mark than when he won last year, he is still eligible for class 4 contests. Therefore, he races against the calibre of opposition he has beaten before.
At his best over 6f on an easy track, Newmarket’s July course is ideal, so long as the ground isn’t slow. You only get one shot with this horse and at 8/1 (William Hill) now is the time.
