Newcastle Tips: Unabated
Set a course record at Newcastle on his return from a 6 month break and last off the bridle, with fastest closing sectional.
Unabated was highly tried as a two-year-old, running in three Group races without success and it might be only now that he is coming to hand.
He made his seasonal reappearance at Newcastle in March and although he only scraped home by a neck, he was better than the bare margin. He was conceding a fitness edge to his rivals and raced away from the pace. Despite these handicaps he travelled strongly through the contest and was the fastest closer by 0.23s.
Adjusted for pace I gave him a speed rating of 94 but that might underplay the performance because his winning time of 69.86s was and still is a course record. He should improve through these season and can defy a 5lbs rise.
