Newcastle Tips: Sharaaoh

Newcastle Tips: Sharaaoh

Expensive purchase who shaped well at Nottingham. Clocked virtually the same closing sectional as the winner but started from further back.

It is early days for the Newcastle all-weather track but it’s geographical position hasn’t changed and it’s always worth noting runners making the trip from Newmarket.

Over the past five seasons Sir Michael Stoute enjoyed a 64% strike rate (7-11) at the track a remarkable record even accounting for the small sample size.

His runners don’t make the trip just for the experience and Shraaoh looks capable of winning the 7.30 maiden.

He was an expensive purchase at 175,000 guineas but his connections deal in quality horses and there’s enough encouragement to suggest it could prove a worthwhile purchase.

Last time out at Nottingham he was too far back in a race run at a steady gallop (109.2% finishing speed). The useful winner (Poet’s World) was not for catching having been ridden more prominently but Shraaoh’s closing sectional was only 0.01s slower.

In defeat he earned an adjusted speed rating of 85 and there should be more to come, especially in middle distance races run at a sound gallop.
