Newcastle Tips: Russian Soul

Jamie Osborne has done a terrific job of revitalising some all-weather stalwarts this winter such as Battalion and the early indications are he can repeat the trick with Russian Soul.

Last time out at Wolverhampton he ran a fine race from a moderate draw. Held-up in rear behind a steady pace, he was poorly positioned but flew home for second place, covering the final 2f, 0.49s quicker than anything else in the race.

In defeat, he earned an adjusted sectional rating of 102, which makes him competitive in all the best all-weather handicaps.

A 7-time winner on the all-weather, he is terrific on a synthetic surface and looks dangerously well handicapped off a mark of 93 having spend most of his career rated in the 100s.
