Newcastle Tips: Pickett’s Charge
Finished second in an above average race for the grade and closing effort was 7th quickest on the round course.
Pickett’s Charge hasn’t been with Richard Guest long but his new trainer seems to be getting to grips with him. Last time out he finished second over 10f at Newcastle and the form looks strong for the grade.
The fourth horse home, Genres was an easy (and well backed) winner next time out and although the rest of the top-6 are yet to be seen again, they all had relatively recent (within last 3 starts) winning form.
The pace of the race was steady early on but Pickett’s Charge came home best of all with the fastest sectional in the race and the seventh fastest on the round track from the last 545 runners.
The blanket finish conceals the quality of the race and although up in the weights, Pickett’s Charge remains in class 6 company.
