Newcastle Tips: Cadmium

Newcastle Tips: Cadmium

Ran the fastest closing sectional on her penultimate start but was poorly positioned in the race. Makes her debut for Micky Hammond.

Cadmium has her first start for Micky Hammond in the 6.50 Newcastle and there are plenty of causes for optimism.

She was a big eye-catcher two starts back when fifth at Lingfield despite a poor ride. Held-up in rear behind a steady pace, she was in the wrong position as the leaders sprinted for home.

Despite being given a gentle ride, she ran a 22.9s closing sectional (wind assisted), which was at least 0.5s better than anything else in the race.

Jockey Leah-Anne Avery was subsequently banned for 10-days because of the ride.

On her next start, Cadmium flopped at Chelmsford but she was perhaps not suited to the kick-back. Since then she has changed stables and new handler Micky Hammond sounds positive. Writing on his website, he says of Cadmium:

‘We think there should be a fair bit of improvement to come and she’s already shown that she favours fast ground, so conditions are fine for her at the minute but there are heavy showers forecast for tomorrow which might affect her chances. As things stand we’re expecting a good run from her.’

The vibes are positive, as are her sectional timings and at 16/1 (Bet365) she is an excellent value bet.
