Newcastle Tip: First Excel
Is 4/9 on the all-weather including a win over course and distance. Warmed up with a good 5th place over inadequate 5f on turf last time and plenty of upside in his mark of 55.
First Excel is 1/1 over course and distance and he is back at Newcastle racing off the same mark with the same jockey aboard as when victorious in January 2017. That was a while ago but the 6-year-old is at his best on the all-weather (4/9) compared to 0/15 on turf.
Bearing that in mind he did well to finish a close fifth over an inadequate 5f, when returning from a 64-day break at Catterick. Largely rested over the summer, he’s been campaigned for an all-weather winter and he should win a couple of times from a mark of 55.
