Newcastle Tip: Constantino
Looked like winning on his return from a 6-month absence but interference on the rail cost him the race.
The 1.30 Newcastle looks a strong race on paper but of the 13 runners, Constantino could have the most improvement in him.
On his return from a 6-month absence he finished a luckless second at Lingfield and these two factors make him an exciting prospect.
The lightly raced 3-year-old should strip fitter for the run and this being only his seventh outing he has more scope from improvement than his rivals.
The other factor that will help him improve is simply getting a clear run. Jack Garritty was looking to make a winning run up the inside but was chopped off when trying to challenge. His race was ruined in an instant but he rallied well to finish with the joint fastest closing sectional.
If he hadn’t been hampered he’d probably have won and with a faster closing sectional. Racing off 8-9 he is a big danger.
