Newcastle: Fortamour
Goes well fresh and coming down the handicap whilst everything else is going up. Runs the track well and doesn't have much to find with Spartan Fighter.
The 7.45 Newcastle is a tight handicap and a few pounds here or there might make the difference. Both Spartan Fighter and Ballyare look at the top of their marks whilst Fortamour is used to winning in the 80s.
We’ve not seen him since finished second over course and distance in November but the time of that race was good and he’s a horse who has gone well fresh before. All his all-weather runs (and wins) have come at Newcastle and although his victories were over 7f, he could stalk and pounce especially if there is another headwind on the track.
Fortamour has 1.25 lengths to turnaround with Spartan Fighter from their race a year ago but he’s 7lbs better off and almost double the price. I can barely split them, therefore we take the value.
