Newbury Tips: Theydon Grey
Ran with credit in some hot races on the all-weather during the winter. Worth the risk at a massive price.
The 4.30 Newbury is a competitive handicap but it might be worth throwing a couple of quid in the direction of Theydon Grey at a silly price.
Over the winter he showed a good level of form, the highlight being a win at Chelmsford City on the 7 February achieved by a wide margin and in a fast time.
He failed to win again but got to within 1.25 lengths of the smart Ennadd, who is now rated 100+
The negatives are whether he can reproduce his all-weather form on turf. Even if he does he might not be good enough but at 50/1 (Betfred) we don’t need much encouragement to dive in.
