Newbury Tips: One Track Mind

Looked an exciting prospect on his debut but unseated last time at Chepstow. Falls into the ‘could be anything’ bracket.

Today’s betting options have been limited by the abandonments of Kelso, Doncaster and Southwell but thankfully racing still goes ahead at Newbury and the market has dangled a carrot in the 2.10.

The Challow Hurdle is usually a high quality affair and this year’s renewal looks no different. Vyta Du Roc is unbeaten in the UK and a worthy favourite but this will be no cakewalk.

Nicky Henderson’s hurdler maintained his winning run by the narrowest of margins at Sandown beating Shantou Bob by a nose. Warren Greatrex saddled the runner-up and it is interesting he has gone to war with stable companion One Track Mind because in theory he should know the type of horse needed to beat the favourite.

One Track Mind looked a decent hurdler in the marking when winning on debut over obstacles at Wetherby. Unfortunately, he then unseated when running-out on his next start at Chepstow but that shouldn’t be held against him.

From a form point of view, he could be anything but given the stable connection I doubt he’d be pitched into a Grade 1 if he wasn’t good enough. At 16/1 (Bet365) he is overpriced.
