Newbury Tips: Native Soldier

Newbury Tips: Native Soldier

Raced lazily at Sandown but still the fastest closer in the race. Tom Queally has a 26% strike rate on the owner's 3yos.

Native Soldier isn’t straightforward but he’s a horse with a fair amount of ability and William Haggas is the type of trainer who can find the key.

Last time out at Sandown he didn’t look totally enamoured with the game, slowly into stride he then sulked at the back of the field but there was progress and his closing 4f sectional of 48.82s was the fastest in the field.

Ultimately he was only beaten 4.75 lengths and that was despite being poorly positioned in a race run at a steady early pace. The step up to a mile is in his favour and the first time cheek-pieces might also help him concentrate.

Tom Queally has a 26% strike rate (18-70) when riding three-year-old’s owned by Mohamed Obaida and he could be set for another winner.

*10p Rule 4 deductions due to non runners.
