Newbury Tips: Amigo
Over-faced on his last two starts but showed glimpses of ability and this much more his level.
It is hard to muster much enthusiasm for some lacklustre cards and with no flat action either, betting opportunities are thin on the ground.
However, Amigo in the 3.10 Newbury gives us a chance to make some money.
His form hasn’t been great recently but that is a product of being tested in some high quality handicaps.
He was pulled-up at Haydock in desperate conditions (only six completed) and finished a reasonable eighth in the Welsh Grand National.
Both were graded races and a return to a more modest class 3 handicap is much more his level.
At the start of December, he finished a closed second in a class 2 handicap at Chepstow, recording his highest Racing Post Rating (137) to boot.
A repeat of that performance should see him go close at 12/1 (BetVictor).
