Mukhmal Back To His Best
Overcame a sticky period to win in fine style at Newmarket last month and can score again.
After a year in the doldrums, Mukhmal sprang back into life by winning a competitive Newmarket handicap by 2.5 lengths.
It was a surprise victory given his 25/1 starting price but he’s always had ability. As a two-year-old he wasn’t disgraced in Group company and was rated 101 at his peak.
He must have had some niggles since then but Mark Johnston seems to have sorted them out.
The manner of his victory at Newmarket was impressive, the overall time was good, and he ran the joint-fastest sectional in the race; therefore it is difficult to pick holes in the form.
He has only gone up 6lbs and can score again in the 3.45 York at 16/1 (William Hill).
