Middle Park Tip: Blue Point

The Middle Park (3.30 Newmarket) is a rematch of the Richmond stakes but this time Blue Point can come out on top. Although they are now racing off level weights, the Godolphin horse only lost by a neck at Goodwood and probably wasn’t suited by making the pace in a small field.

Last time out he won the Gimcrack by three lengths and it’s impossible not to be impressed by the manner of his victory. Visually he won with consummate ease but the time was superb. Tracking a solid pace (103.1% finishing speed) he quickened nicely with a 33.26s closing sectional.

That was the third fast closing sectional from the last 1081 runners at the track and the only horses to go faster were Mecca’s Angel and Limato in the Nunthorpe - both older horses and Group 1 sprinters.

I gave Blue Point a whopping adjusted sectional speed rating of 113 and he can confirm his class by winning at Newmarket this afternoon.
