Methaaly To Benefit From Draw

In good form and has bagged a low draw, which is crucial to his chances.

The 6f track at Wolverhampton is one of the country’s fairest tracks with no obvious draw bias. The draw does seem to affect Methaaly however, so it is good news that he is berthed in stall one for the 8.25 race.

When racing over course and distance in class 5 contests, the draw has a strange impact on his finishing position.

Drawn 6 or lower: 3253516426651272 = 3.8 average
Drawn 7 of higher: 3833650530 = 5.6 average

On average, he finishes almost two places better when drawn low. This is peculiar because he is a hold-up horse therefore the draw shouldn’t make a difference as he normally races in the pack.

My conclusion is that he barely gets six furlongs. Three of his 13 career wins have been at 5f and all his turf wins, barring his maiden, have come at racecourses with easy tracks.

A low draw at Wolverhampton allows him to stick tight to the inside rail, covering the least amount of ground possible. If Richard Kingscote applies those tactics tonight he will go close at 13/2 with William Hill.
