Lingfield Tips: Roy’s Legacy
Paid the price for setting a strong gallop last week but should be able to dominate this smaller field.
The 4.30 Lingfield is the rematch of a race staged a week ago and there is good reason to expect a different result.
Ask The Guru finished ahead of Desert Strike and Roy’s Legacy that day but only 2.25 lengths covered the trio and Roy’s Legacy has a chance to turn around the form.
Last week’s race was run at a solid gallop, the first three horses at the 2f pole filling the bottom three places at the finishing line. Conversely, Profile Star and Shirleys Pride were second last and last at the 2f marker but finished the race in the top-two.
Roy’s Legacy had a finishing speed of 100.5% and although that looks like an even pace, the par finishing speed for 5f at Lingfield is 102.7%.
He didn’t have enough in reserve for the mad dash down the home straight but in a smaller field his jockey should be able to conserve more energy this time round.
