Lingfield Tips: Red Flute
Course and distance record is 122129 and reared at the start on his only poor run. Luke Morris 3/9 for the trainer.
On paper, Red Flute appears to have no chance in the 2.00 Lingfield. He was beaten in class 7 company last time out and races from 3lbs out of the handicap. However, he’s come up with surprises before and dead-heated over course and distance in the summer, also from out of the handicap.
If we look for positives, they aren’t hard to find. His course and distance record is 122129, the only time he finished outside the top-2 was when rearing at the start and giving away 5 lengths to the field.
On the clock, he’s run some fair races at Kempton (last time out) and Chelmsford (22 October) both when setting a strong early gallop.
From stall 10 he faces a task getting the lead but he does break quickly and we’ve seen horses cut across from wide draws before over 5f.
The booking of Luke Morris is eye-catching. Not only is he an expert in riding these all-weather tracks he also has a 33% strike rate (3-9) for Denis Quinn.
