Lingfield Tips: New Rich
Below par last two outings but not had good draws. Well berthed and should have pace to aim at.
It’s last change saloon for New Rich (as far as this column is concerned) in the 5.50 Lingfield. Having run well over the winter, he’s put in a couple of duff efforts of late. In his defence, he’s had poor draws but he’s well berthed today, so it’s now or never.
New Rich needs a strong pace to aim at, which he should get with The Big Short on his inside and he will also need the gaps to come. That is not guaranteed around Lingfield but Robert Winston has enjoyed a productive winter and travels to Surrey for just the one ride. Throw in the fact he has a 13% strike rate and £34.50 level stakes profit when riding for Eve Johnson Houghton and it starts to become a tip in itself.
New Rich’s last two course and distance runs have yielded strong closing sectionals and good overall times. This is easier and off a mark of 58 and he won’t have many better chances.
