Lingfield Tips: Ladies Are Forever
Won the race last year and ran better than the bare form last time out. Wrong trip, went off too fast and posted wide.
The 2.40 Lingfield is a hot little race and although horses like Stepper Point, Kingsgate Choice and Monsieur Joe have the ability to win it’s difficult to gauge their form, this being their first start in the UK for several months.
It makes sense to stick with course and distance performers, with Addictive Dream and Ladies Are Forever having leading claims.
Addictive Dream was impressive three weeks ago, scooting clear by 2.75 lengths and winning in a fast time. His finishing speed of 103.4% suggests he raced at an even tempo but he’s not guaranteed to have everything his own way.
He is stepping up in class and with Even Stevens on his inside; he might not get an easy lead. Jockey Tony Hamilton said it was important to get the horse into a rhythm and that could prove difficult in a better race.
Ladies Are Forever will be in position to capitalise if Addictive Dream falters. She won the race last year in a course record time and is well drawn in stall 4.
She finished sixth last time out but ran much better than the bare result. It was her first run in over four months and she was posted wide throughout the race.
She wasn’t helped by getting involved in a battle for the lead (finishing speed 100%) but finished best of the front-runners, especially over a 6f trip that stretched her stamina.
In hindsight, it was the perfect prep-run and at 4/1 (William Hill) she should go close.
