Lingfield Tips: Inexorable Tide
Possibly ran green on his racecourse debut but nothing came home quicker. If building on that performance he will be hard to beat.
Inexorable Tide ran an eye-catching race three weeks ago and the interpretation of that performance is crucial to his chances in the 1.10 Lingfield.
Five furlongs from home he was hard ridden by Pat Smullen but after paddling for a couple of furlongs he motored home, covering the final 2f in 23.52s, nothing else in the race dipped below 24.0s.
The question is, was he outpaced or simple running green?
If it is the former, then we have problems because the race wasn’t run at a furious gallop (101.9% finishing speed). Over the same trip, he could get outpaced again and that will lose him the race.
If it is the latter, and that is possible because it was his debut, then he should improve plenty.
I’m of the opinion he ran green, lacking experience he simply didn’t know what to do.
