Lingfield Tips: Dr Red Eye

Beaten in a blanket finish at Kempton but the moral winner having raced the hard way; setting a strong gallop from the front.

Dr Red Eye was beaten in a blanket finish at Kempton nine days ago but on sectional ratings he was the clear winner.

The six-year-old tried to make every post a winning one and almost succeeded until getting swamped in the final 100 yards.

His final 2f finishing speed was 98.1% of the overall speed, which means he was tiring and the race favoured those ridden with more restraint.

On a more speed-favouring track and in a smaller field, I expect less pace pressure for the Scott Dixon runner.

Rivals Holiday Magic and Evening Attire look well held on the Kempton form and there isn’t anything else in the field with the obvious pace to challenge for the lead. He can win at 5/2 (Coral).
