Lingfield Tips: Chandrayaan
Return to Polytrack a big plus because he struggles on turf. Ran well on last visit to the track.
We are taking a big risk backing Chandrayaan in the 4.10 Lingfield but at 33/1 (William Hill) we are amply rewarded.
The 8-year-old has shown precious little on his last five starts but most of these have come on turf and he’s no good on it (0-15).
This afternoon he returns to the Polytrack and he performed well on it back in April.
Setting an overly strong pace (96.4% finishing speed much slower than par) he hung on grimly, only to be overtaken in the last 100 yards and finish third by a length.
In defeat, he earned a good speed for the grade especially when you add a sectional upgrade to his performance.
If he can recapture that level of form he can win, the big question is whether he is capable of doing that.
