Lingfield Tips: Battalion

Battalion is 165162 in 10f/10.5f races on the all-weather, including a win in this last year and although Listed/Group races might be slightly beyond him a conditions stakes is perfect.

Last time out he was only beaten 0.25 lengths in a Group 3 contest at Dudalk and can be counted slightly unlucky. Long Island Sound enjoyed a soft lead and the closers couldn’t bridge the gap.

Hawke ran the fastest closing sectional in third (won next time out) but Battalion was clear second quickest over the final 3f.

Unlike last year, he doesn’t carry a 3lbs penalty in this race and the small field shouldn’t cause an issue if William Carson keeps him handy from stall 2.
