Lingfield Tips: Auric Goldfinger
Races lazily but headgear has improved performances of late. Fastest closer by 0.5s last time and races in same grade.
The handicapper has put Auric Goldfinger up 8lbs for his 4.5 length win at Lingfield but he’s able to return to the track and race in the same grade. Despite the extra weight the opposition is no stronger and there’s enough improvement in the horse to defy the rise.
Auric Goldfinger can race lazily but the application of the blinkers has seen him finish 321 in his last three races. If Richard Hannon can get the horse to concentrate on the matters at hand, then he will have a fair sprinter.
Last time out, Auric Goldfinger ran a 22.36s closing sectional; the fastest in the race by 0.5s despite looking laboured halfway through the contest. I gave him an adjusted speed rating of 73 for that win, which suggests he is a good deal better than his mark. In time, connections might look to geld him but there’s enough raw ability to win a few more races yet.
