Lingfield: Mamillius
Lingfield record is: 223241 and all have come with good speed ratings; enough to be competitive in a class 5 handicap. Came from awkward position to win last time and only 3lbs higher.
Mamillius has done all his winning at 7f but most of those victories have come in a higher grade and I think he can cope with the step back to 6f, especially at Lingfield.
His record at the Surrey venue is: 223241 and those have come with adjusted speed ratings of 73-73-68-64-68-78. It’s fair to say he’s never run a bad race at the track and most of these speed ratings are usually good enough to win a class 5 handicap.
Last time he scored despite being too far back in a steadily run contest. He showed a tremendous turn of foot to make up over 5 lengths in the final two-furlong with a rapid 22.02 closing sectional. A 3lbs rise underrates the performance.
Shane Kelly is on-board, as he has been for all Mamillius’s runs at Lingfield. He should go well.
