Lingfield: Desert Land

Twice a course and distance winner who has posted big speed ratings this winter. Needs to bounce back from poor effort but was posted wide and keen so had excuses.

Desert Land has run some massive sectional adjusted speed figures for a horse rated in the 60s. High points include runs at Lingfield on the 29 Oct, 4 Nov and 5 Jan and whilst one might be an anomaly the body of evidence suggests he is well handicapped.

He would normally be a short price for this race but got stuffed by Power Over Me on his last start. I’m a big fan of the winner, so no shame in defeat but the 5 lengths distance was surprising. Having watched a reply of the race, he was posted wide and keen and that probably led to the below par effort.

Can we forgive a poor run? If we do then his most recent efforts make him a player in this contest.
