Lightning Strikes Twice

Wolverhampton Tip: Lightning Strikes Twice

Beaten an average of 3.9 lengths over 5f compared to 8.5 lenghts at 6f. Drop in trip plus William Carson on board both big positives.

Storm Lightning is 1/24 on the all-weather but crucially he is a previous course and distance winner and he can win again off a basement mark in the 7.40 Wolverhampton.

At face value his form this winter is poor but there is reason for optimism. His record at 6f is 679880 but at 5f it improves to 934. Examine the distances he has been beaten and it becomes even more instructive. At 6f he’s lost by an average of 8.5 lengths but over the minimum trip he’s only lost by an average of 3.9 lengths.

When third behind Jorivik Prince in December he ran the fastest closing sectional of the race and if they go hard he could pick up the pieces. William Carson replaces the regular apprentice rider and cheek-pieces are also back on for the first time in a while.
