Kilimanjaro Can Scale The Heights

Kilimanjaro Can Scale The Heights

Did well to win the Lingfield Derby Trial after giving the leaders a 3.5 length head-start in a sprint for the line.

Golden Horn will be difficult to beat in the Derby but the potential danger horse is Kilimanjaro.

Aidan O’Brien has won the last three renewals of the Epsom Classic and although he lacks an obvious candidate for the race he shouldn’t be written off.

Of the Ballydoyle trio I’m most taken by Kilimanjaro. He won the Lingfield Derby trial beating the highly regarded Christopermarlowe and did it the hard way.

Held-up in rear, behind a steady early pace he gave Christopermarlowe and Magic Dander a 3.5 length head-start with four furlongs to go.

It is to his immense credit that he managed catch the leaders, despite racing into a quickening pace. His final 4f sectional was 0.88s quicker than anything else in the field.

The greenness Kilimanjaro displayed during the race suggests there is more to come and he could into the mix at 16/1 with ¼ odds for a top-3 finish.
