Kempton Tips: Ustinov
Big improver since moving to David O’Meara and clocked fifth fastest closing sectional out of last 1721 horses who ran at Wolverhampton.
It is widely known that David O’Meara is an excellent trainer and he seems to have worked the oracle with Ustinov.
Since leaving Brian Meehan the horse has finished 311 for his new handler with Racing Post Ratings of 76-85-91.
The handicapper put him up 4lbs for his last win but that isn’t enough to cover his current rate of progress.
Last time out at Wolverhampton he showed a tremendous turn of foot to run the final 2f in 22.72.
He rapid final sectional was helped by a steady pace (107.45% finishing speed) but in absolute terms it was the fifth fastest final sectional (out of 1721 horses) at Wolverhampton since May.
Ustinov is a very useful horse and should win the 8.25 Kempton at 5/2 (William Hill).
