Kempton Tips: Thomas Blossom

Thomas Blossom was racing over hurdles in the autumn, with some success but he’s been brought back to the flat and looks capable of winning a small class 6 handicap.

Last time out he was held-up in a race run at a steady early gallop (111% finishing speed) and although he made good progress in the home-straight, he needed a more thorough test of stamina over a 13f trip possibly short of his best.

Despite finishing third there were plenty of positives to take out of the race. He ran the fastest closing sectional and earned an adjusted speed rating of 70, well above his official mark of 64.

In the 5.20 Kempton he steps up to 16f, which should play to his stamina but he also has a turn of foot which should be effective at a longer distance against less speedier types. The booking of Adam Kirby is another positive and he goes to Sunbury with a big chance.
