Kempton Tips: New Rich
Favourite warrants respect but New Rich ran a 21.93s sectional at Lingfield and Kempton is his favourite track.
Born To Finish will have plenty of admirers the way he extricated himself from a dire situation to win at Wolverhampton last week. He’s clearly ahead of the handicapper, as another fastest sectional showed but he’s not hiding anything from the betting public. A third race in quick succession, a moderate draw and the price are all enough to put me off.
With all the attention focused on the favourite, New Rich flies under the radar and he really shouldn’t. Last time out at Lingfield he ran an astonishing closing sectional, covering the final 2f in 21.93s, quickest in the field by 0.59s.
If anything, New Rich is even better at Kempton, where his 6f record with John Fahy, in class 6 handicaps is 115531522. He is only 2lbs above his last winning mark and from a better draw he can win the battle of the closers.
