Kempton Tips: Mearing

Mearing ran a cracker on debut in conditions that might not have suited him and he can go one better in the 6.40 Kempton.

His lack of experience was evident at Wetherby as after a very slow start he was soon in rear. The pace never quickened until late in the race and by then Mearing was trying to make up ground from an uncompromising position.

To his credit he ran the fastest closing sectional of the race, earning a very useful adjusted speed rating of 92. A step up to 6f is in his favour given how strongly he finished and Charlie Fellows has an excellent 19% strike rate (14-95) at Kempton.
