Kempton Tips: Deftera Lad
Should improve racing behind a strong pace and slightly unlucky last time when hampered close to the finish.
There is not a lot of winning form in the 6.15 Kempton but I’m sure there are a couple of horses looking to exploit handicap marks early in their careers.
Deftera Lad falls into that category.
Last time out everything seemed to go wrong for Pat Phelan’s horse. He was poorly position in rear behind a steady gallop (107% finishing speed) and when the race developed into a sprint, he momentarily hit a flat spot before charging home.
Deftera Lad finished 8th but was 3rd fastest on sectionals and deserves a further upgrade because he found his path blocked in the final furlong.
He should be seen to better effect behind a strong gallop and although he is drawn wide, his running style means he is usually held-up in his races anyway.
A handicap mark of 58 looks lenient and he can capitalise at 7/1 (Bet365).
