Kempton Tip: Sir Ottoman
Only beaten 5.25 lengths by Gulliver last time out and has a better draw and a pull at the weights. Second start for Ivan Furtado.
The 3.50 Kempton is a cracking race for a dull Monday but there are negatives around all the main protagonists. Gulliver is the most likely winner but triumphing with 9-13 on his back will be tough. As for everything else, they are either poorly handicapped or better over a different distance.
It is the sort of race that could be won from left-field and Sir Ottoman fits the bill. He’s done little previously in three UK starts but this is only his second start for Ivan Furtado and a mark of 87 could be lenient.
He was a three-time winner in France, including on the all-weather and a synthetic surface could bring out the best of him. Last time out he was beaten 5.25 lengths by Gulliver at Wolverhampton but he had a bad draw and was the fifth fastest closer despite finishing tenth. He might run better than his price suggests.
