Kempton Tip: Oloroso

Couldn't overcome wide draw on Lingfield's turf track but fastest closer by 0.57s. Winner over 7f at Kempton back in March, also in a good time, and should run well again.

A high draw has proven beneficial over the years on Lingfield’s straight turf course and the draw was the undoing of Oloroso last time out. In a race where the first two home had the two highest draws, he was stuck out wide in the lowest stall. Joshua Bryan did his best to rectify the situation by dropping his mount out in rear but that meant his mount had too much ground to make up; with 3f left to run he was 8 lengths behind the leaders.

To his credit Oloroso kept going to the line and actually clocked the fastest closing sectional by 0.57s. It wasn’t immediately obvious but he ran a fine race with an adjusted speed rating of 70.

The 3-year-old has run three good races in a row and return to Kempton where he was successful over course and distance in late March. That also saw him run another good speed rating and although he is up in grade he looks capable of scoring at a higher level.
