Kelso Tips: L’Aigle Royal

Kelso Tips: L’Aigle Royal

Forgive his defeat in heavy ground and he doesn’t have much to find with the likes of Lord Wishes. Cheek-pieces back on today.

After an overload of National Hunt racing last week it would be nice to retreat to the safety of the flat unfortunately there are no all-weather meetings on Monday so we are back on the jumps.

The 4.00 Kelso is one of the most open races of the day and L’Aigle Royal looks the best value bet.

John Quinn doesn’t have that many runners over the jumps but always does well with his select string, having enjoyed at least a 17% strike rate for the past six seasons.

Aged five, L’Aigle Royal is the youngster of the race and is open to more improvement. He was beaten when a short price favourite on heavy ground at Ludlow last time but he has a chance based on his penultimate run at Carlisle.

L’Aigle Royal finished seventh but was only 1.25 lengths behind Lord Wishes who he re-opposes on 3lbs better terms. With the cheek-pieces back on we could see the necessary improvement that leads to victory.
