Royal Birth hasn’t won since taking this race 12 months ago but it is hard to crab a horse with a course and distance record of 112. His only defeat came at the hands of Gracious John in December but he was unlucky as the winner was better positioned in a race with a steady early gallop.

Royal Birth flew home with a 21.17s sectional but couldn’t make up enough ground into a quickening pace, his poor draw not helping matters either. The 7-year-old has run ok since then but a combination of wrong trip, track or bad luck have conspired against him. Back at his favourite track he should go well.
