Haydock Tip: Triggered

Big eye-catcher at Thirsk. Dwelt at start and poorly positioned in a race that suited 5f specialists. Fastest closer by 0.36s suggesting 6f is his trip and earned a large adjusted speed rating in defeat.

Triggered is having his first start for Mark Loughnane but he could be a sprinter to follow this season. This lightly raced 4-year-old has plenty of ability, he finished fourth in a Listed race as a juvenile and looks well-handicapped off a mark of 87.

You can draw a line through his last run on heavy ground at Doncaster but before that he was a big eye-catcher at Thirsk. After a slow start, Paul Hanagan kept him positioned in rear, not the spot in a steadily run contest. Triggered was 7 lengths behind with 3 furlongs left but he finished with gusto, clocking the fastest closing sectional by 0.34s. It was a performance of a 6f horse running over the wrong trip but he performed with credit.

In defeat he earned an adjusted sectional speed rating of 97, a figure that marks him out as a class 2 performer. The form looks solid with Four Wheel Drive and Count D’orsay, both 5f specialists, finishing the 2019 season strongly.
