Haydock Tip: Autumn Flight

Good form last season was sparked by application of blinkers and they are back on. Early pace too strong on reappearance at Newmarket but speed he displayed suggests switch to 5f ideal.

Autumn Flight enjoyed a really strong back-end to the 2019 turf season with two wins and two second places in four starts. That run of form was sparked off by the application of blinkers and having been discarded for his seasonal return, they are back on.

A regular front-runner, David Allan didn’t get the fractions right at Newmarket. The early pace was too strong, especially over 6f and Autumn Flight understandably tired. Still, it was a good effort after a 242-day break and he was only beaten 3.25 lengths. When adjusting for pace he earned an speed rating of 78, very good for a horse now rated 75.

A drop back in trip, with blinkers and cut underfoot (winner on soft and heavy) looks ideal for the horse and he should run well.
