Haydock: Mountain Peak

Is 2/2 over course and distance and although racing off a career high mark he's clocked two big speed ratings this summer. They suggest he is capable of defying a mark of 95.

Mountain Peak will have to overcome a career high mark to win the 3.15 Haydock but that can be said for most of the horses in the race and his case is the strongest. A two-time course and distance winner (from two starts), his best performances have come at this track and he clocked an excellent speed rating of 97 when successful here in June.

He backed that run up with another big speed figure behind Jawwaal at Ascot; which suggests he is a capable of defying a mark of 95. A strike-rate of 7/26 is impressive for a sprint handicapper and indicative of a horse moving in the right direction.
