Hamilton: Power Generation

Has run two good speed ratings on the bounce. Set an overly strong gallop at York and beaten by a smart prospect. Lost nothing in defeat and pedigree suggests he'll be better over 6f.

Smullen brings some excellent course and distance form to the table in the 2.15 Hamilton but I like the prospects of Power Generation. He cut out a strong pace at York last time but simply couldn’t live with Jadhlaan and lost nothing in defeat.

His adjusted speed rating of 73 was good and he plugged on well given the overly strong early gallop. It’s twice he’s bumped into a good horse but his pedigree suggests he will improve for the step-up in trip and I can see that in his running style. He’s been working too hard over the minimum trip and that is perhaps blunting his finishing burst.

I think 6f is ideal and he’s underrated in the market.
