Greenham Stakes Tip: Make Time

Greenham Stakes Tip: Make Time

Underrated given connections. Earned big speed rating when winning at Salisbury and form of race has worked out well.

The Greenham (3.05 Newbury) has gone to some smart horses over the years, including none other than Frankel in 2011, however it often pays to go against the crowd and Make Time is underrated by the layers.

Bought for 60,000 GNS he is one of the ‘cheaper’ horses in the field but just because he comes from a small yard doesn’t mean he should be ignored.

He ran a blinder on debut at Ascot at 50/1 when slightly unlucky to lose by a nose and made up for that by trouncing a decent maiden field at Salisbury. Quickening off a solid gallop he was a runaway 5 length winner, clocking the fastest closing sectional by 0.47s.

The overall time was good, accounting for the ground and I gave Make Time an adjusted sectional rating of 97. Not only did he impress on the clock but the collateral form is strong, with the third, sixth, seventh and eighth horse home all winning subsequently.
