Great St Wilfrid Tips: Fairway To Heaven

Did well to win at Windsor on his last start considering he was ridden too far off the pace.

With 20-runners in the field for the Great St Wilfrid (3.30 Ripon) there is almost certainly going to be a split.

Looking through the runners all the early pace is drawn high, against the near side rail. The likes of Spinatrix, Colonel Mak and Kimberella can race prominently giving those drawn high, a good tow into the race.

From gate 14, Fairway To Heaven has plenty in his favour. He is lightly raced, progressive and was a good winner on his last start.

Held up in last place he scythed through a strong field to win at Windsor by one length. He earned a good speed rating and his victory was impressive because the pace didn’t collapse in front of him. His finishing speed of 104% is quicker than par but it wasn’t the most effective distribution of his energy.

Any rain will further increase he chances and in a competitive race he is the best bet at 12/1 (Betfred).
