Grand National Tips: Spring Heeled

Grand National Tips: Spring Heeled

Had a light campaign, with just one run at Fairyhouse on ground that was too soft. On last year’s form, he has a big chance.

Spring Heeled is an aptly named horse to be taking on the Grand National but thankfully he lives up to his moniker.

The horse enjoyed a tremendous 2014, winning the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival with a fabulous round of jumping before finishing fourth in the valuable Galway Plate over an inadequate 22f.

Connections have been at pains to keep him under-wraps this season, with Spring Heeled only appearing once this season. He was beaten 18-lengths at Fairyhouse but the ground was unsuitably soft.

Given his small string of horses, it would be some training feat if Jim Culloty could win the Gold Cup and Grand National in consecutive seasons but in Spring Heeled he has a strong contender at 28/1 (BetVictor) with 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
