Grand National Tip: West End Rocker

The better ground should suit and if you ignore his last run he was a horse on the upgrade.

The Grand National can be a bit of a lottery so it often pays to have a few selections on your side. Getting in early, a horse I like a lot is West End Rocker.

Prominent in the National betting for most of the winter his odds took a walk after he was pulled up at Haydock. Although a Grand National trial, it was raced on desperate ground with only four of the fourteen starters completing. Any horse performing poorly on ground that heavy can be excused.

Prior to that, West End Rocker had won successive chasers, including the Grade 3 Classic Chase at Warwick. That race was over 3m 5f, so we know the horse can handle these marathon trips.

For a nine year old, he doesn’t have many miles on the clock and seems to be peaking this season. Having finished in the top two in 6 of his 11 chase starts, he has stamina and that bit of class that a horse needs to win the National.

I recommend you back West End Rocker with Bet365 as they are going non-runner no bet, so if he doesn’t make it to the start we get our money back. Bet365 are also paying 5 places at ¼ odds, the best each way terms available at the current time.
