Grand National Tip: Grand Slam Hero

grand national tip

The warm weather and good going brings this summer jumps specialist into the reckoning.

In such a big field, anything can happen and of the rank outsiders, Grand Slam Hero has a better chance than the odds suggest. After one of the driest March’s on record, Aintree have been watering the ground to keep it riding slow and safe. Despite their best efforts, the sun has shone all week and the going stick suggests we could have the quickest ground for many years.

This all plays to the strengths of Grand Slam Hero who is a summer jumps specialist. All his wins have come between May and August as that is when he gets his favoured firmer ground; as luck would have it summer has come early.

Although jump racing is not as competitive in the off season, this horse has won good races, including the valuable Summer Plate Chase at Market Rasen. He has already won twice beyond 3miles, which suggest the National trip is within his compass.

You can forgive his last run as that was on unsuitably soft ground. With the sun making an early appearance we should see a better run from Grand Slam Hero than odds of 100/1 suggest.
