Gosforth Park Cup Tip: Soie D'Leau
Record at Newcastle (turf & AW) is 21214 and unlucky fourth in race last year when drawn away from the pace.
For the second time the Gosforth Park Cup is run on the all-weather and we can learn lessons from last year’s edition. Twelve months ago the first three horses were drawn 1, 3 and 4 as the action developed up the far side, the unlucky horse was Soie D’Leau in fourth, forced to race away from the main group in stall 14.
This evening he returns off a 6lbs higher mark but is also a much improved horse. Last season he took two nice class 2 handicaps and although he failed to handle the leap into Listed class at Haydock, he should be respected back in handicap company.
The 6-year-old has already shown a fair level of form this season, running a big speed rating behind Copper Knight at York and losing nothing in defeat behidn the smart Judicial at Beverley last time out.
His record at Newcastle (turf and all-weather) is 21214 and regardless of the surface he seems to love the straight track. From a middle draw he should run well.
