In-form jockey riding for an in-form yard. Only beaten 2 lengths in this race two years ago and returns off an 8lbs lower mark.
With 26 runners declared the 5.20 Goodwood should be fast and furious. The last two winners have come from well off the pace and Fitz Flyer is another horse well suited by a strong gallop.
He’s not the most prolific winner (3-56) but in class 3 level or below his record improves to 3-24 and he is 1lb lower than his last winning mark.
Well suited by 5f on fast ground he’s also got two in-form men on his side. Trainer Dandy Nicholls has struck seven times in July (7-47) whilst jockey Joe Fanning is absolutely flying having bagged 35 winners this month with a 27% strike rate and £88 level stakes profit.
Fitz Flyer wears blinkers for the first time in three years and he usually runs well immediately after a change in headgear.
