Goodwood Tips: Boynton
Beat War Decree fair and square, covering the final 3f over a length quicker. Should overcome 3lb penalty.
The Vintage Stakes (2.35 Goodwood) is a rematch between Boynton and War Decree and I cannot see the form being turned around despite the latter being 3 lbs off at the weights.
Last time out Boynton prevailed by a length and the form looks rock solid. After a slow start, he tanked through the race and then quickened away from the field. When War Decree came to challenge, he went away again and ran the fastest closing sectional by 0.21s.
The sectional adjusted speed rating was very good (99) and having already won at Goodwood he is the one to beat, despite the market saying otherwise.
